Self care Sunday

Raise your hand if you’re in need of a little self-care and pampering?

Who doesn’t love a Sunday to themselves, and some dedicated time to rejuvenate for the week ahead. When we think about indulging in some much-needed ‘me time’, most activities that pop to mind include face masks and bubble baths. But did you know that involving plants in your self-care routine is proven to leave you feeling more relaxed, inspired and positive?

No strangers to a max-relax weekend ourselves, we’ve put together our guide to the perfect green Sunday for you and your plant pals.

Start the day at your fave leafy local

Grab your fronds and pick a green brunch spot to kick start your wellness weekend. Why not treat yourself to plant-based smoothie bowl as you sit back among the foliage and enjoy breathing in that naturally purified air?

If you need inspiration of where to go, check out our list of green Places around Australia.

Take a walk on the wild side

Next, ditch the Netflix and head for a stroll to your local park. Find a place in the sun with your favourite book or pop on a podcast to get in your chill zone.

You can check out some of our favourite city parks and gardens in our Places catalogue, there might be one closer by than you think!

Time to pamper your plants

Now that we have given ourselves a little self-loving, let’s pass that onto our plants.

Give them a wipe down with a wet cloth to remove any dust, remove any brown or dying leaves and check the soil for moisture. Pushing your index finger into the top layer of soil up to the finger first joint will generally give you a good indication – if the soil is dry at that level, it most likely needs water, so give that baby a drink.

For specific watering instructions or if you notice anything with your plants that you’re not sure about, pop down to your closest Plant Life Balance accredited nursery and have a chat with the experts.

Strip back to basics and get natural

Pop on your go-to face mask or grab the body scrub and get ready for the best bit of the day – it’s bath time! We love adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil to our bath, not only does it smell amazing, it can help to soothe irritated skin, relieve pain and protect against infection.

Now you and your plants are squeaky clean, tuck yourself into bed and take a moment to reflect on how you feel. Way better, right? We’re all busy with packed schedules and looming deadlines, but taking care of your basic physical and emotional needs should always be our first priority. If you can’t remember the last time you made time for yourself, we hope these tips can remind why you and your plants definitely deserve that little bit of TLC!
