Plant Life Balance

Our favourite parks and gardens in Hobart

It might be small, but there’s natural splendour a plenty.

Hobart’s old world charm is due in part to its lush local parks and rich surrounding bushland. Tasmania is known for being green, but Hobart knows how to mix it with the

Waverley Flora Park

A popular site for locals, this sprawling bush park is home to some beautiful and rare orchids, among other natural wonders.

St David’s Park

A short walk from Salamanca Markets is St David’s Park, a former cemetery – but don’t let that scare you off, it’s a really beautiful spot.

Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

Australia’s second oldest botanical gardens hark back to 1818. The Japanese garden and Subantarctic Plant House are particular highlights.

Waterworks Reserve

Just out of Hobart and on the walking track up kunanyi /  Mt Wellington lie two water reservoirs that service the city. They’re nestled in a clearing, surrounded by eucalyptus trees and kookaburras, it’s a tranquil spot.

Fitzroy Gardens

A small but well-established neighbourhood park in South Hobart, Fitzroy Gardens boasts impressive flower displays and rolling lawns. As popular for picnics as it is for weddings.

Parks and public gardens also provide inspiration for your own green space, so head on down to your local! Then find your nearest Plant Life Balance-approved nursery and get plantin’.
