Plant Life Balance

Australia’s favourite green places

We asked, you delivered. The results are in from our recent Plant Life Balance Places competition…is your favourite on the list?

The people have spoken! We’ve done the hard work so that you don’t have to, and collated the hottest green spots that all the cool kids are hanging around (we’re referring to you!). Have a peek below at the most popular leafy venues from around the country.

The Grounds of Alexandria

A clear crowd-favourite, The Grounds are a smashing hit with Sydney residents that want to be immersed in a space that literally has it all. With on-site cafes and gardens, lush garden spaces, al fresco terraces, leafy alley ways, potting shed and even petting farm, there’s something to sip and snap for everyone.

Grub Fitzroy

When the menu is categorised by ‘land’, ‘sea’ and ‘earth’, nobody should be surprised by Grub being the first place people turn to for ultra-natural vibes. With an eclectic garden that will make any patron ‘oooh’, bar and all-day breakfast menu, Grub reigns green-supreme in the Victoria region.

Mappins Nursery

A true eclectic jungle, you can’t walk inside Mappins Nursery without getting temporarily lost in a green dream. This is every West End resident’s local haven for all types of plants, terrariums… and even water plants! Mappins has your walls, balconies and ponds all covered with all that is lovable and green. They even host creative workshops on terrariums, kokedama and more!  No doubt, these guys are experts in the industry and have made a dent with their Brissy’s residents, being a total stand-out in the state.

Bar Botanik

Appointed as Perth’s inner-city haven by the locals, Bar Botanik is your one-stop shop for coffee, plants and homeware: basically everything that makes us feel a little giddy inside. The best part? Green. Is. Everywhere. You’ll find yourself struggling to leave – whether it’s marvelling at a rare plant, sniffing a cute candle or ogling at a cool ceramic pot, Bar Botanik will have you wrapped around its finger in no time at all.

Good Day

For the more retro kids on the block, Good Day is your next best cafe to hit up for coffee, plants and… sneakers. That’s right. Nestled in Somerton Park, the guys at Good Day are absolutely dominating with their unique spin on the conventional cafe ambience. While plants initially were used for decor, they’re now being sold, along with their impressive shoe collection. So, snag yourself a bargain and a good coffee, just for kicks!

Sweet tooth, anyone? Hidden inside a green courtyard, Alleycats is an uncontested favourite for our Darwin green thumbs and dessert connoisseurs. Fresh pastries, drool-worthy beverages and (of course) brunch, all while being surrounded in a garden… now, that’s what we call heaven!
