Plant Life Balance

Australian native edible workshops – Summer 2020

In 2020, Plant Life Balance predicts that gardening is going to be one of the hottest hobbies in town. Reaching for the garden gloves and trowel will be the go-to activity for those looking to take a mental breather, indulge in the therapeutic effects of gardening, and give their house/garden/balcony a greenery-inspired makeover.

And what better plants to befriend in the yard this year, than Australia’s very own native species? Here are some exciting upcoming workshops and programs that can give you (and your kids!) a head start with natives this year.

Lemon Myrtle, one of our favourite native plants. Wonderful for a simple but very tasty cuppa, and so versatile when dried and ground into a zesty powdered spice. ⁣ ⁣ It’s gradually being planted in abundance by our local council for which we are very grateful. It’s incredible how quickly you begin to see native food on our street verges, parks and pathways once you’ve learnt some of our local species. The neighbourhood is suddenly thriving with Myrtle like these, Lilly Pilly, midgen berries and more. ⁣ ⁣ If you’d like to learn more, we have the wonderful Narelle Happ from @agardenforlife back with us next month, Sat 17th Aug, for one of our most popular workshops, The Bush Tucker Garden. You can pick up one of the few remaining tickets on our website. ⁣ ⁣ ?@luisabrimble
